Julie’s Book Corner

Reminders and recommendations from our Librarian, Julie Cox

Moving Homes

As part of overall renovations for our Wembley site, we will be moving our Library to the back of the Wyllie building (near our Family Liaison and Enrolments office). The aim of this will be to bring it to closer to our Talkabut 4 and Talkabout 5 students, who are the largest users of the library.

We will be using the upcoming school holidays to kit out the new space so we don’t impede on access for the children during term.  However, for the last week of Term 2 and the first week of Term 3 we will be pausing any borrowing so Julie (with some help) can focus on the move.

We will then be re-purposing our current library space, part of which will be for a parent room.

If you have any queries about how this change may affect your child and family, please get in touch with Julie or your child’s teacher.

Reporting Damaged Books

Families are responsible for the books they borrow and we trust that resources and books will be looked after whilst under your care.

To avoid lost or damaged books, we recommend that library books are kept in a designated spot in the house, and that the books are returned to this spot after reading each time (e.g. Keep library bag on the door handle in child’s bedroom)

However, we understand that accidents do occur…

If a borrowed item has been lost or damaged, please contact Julie or let your child’s teacher/therapist know what has happened.

Telethon Speech & Hearing is very fortunate to run an onsite library that features a specially curated range of books and resources to help your child's language and literacy skills flourish.

If books are lost or damaged, this impacts how other families get to experience the same book. So please report any books that are lost or damaged in any way, so that we can repair or replace this resource in our library. Thank you for your support and understanding.
