10-year-old Clare Collins recently visited Telethon Speech & Hearing during Book Week to complete some volunteering leadership hours for her school. Clare is an alumna of our Talkabout program, having received specialised speech and language support during her kindergarten years.  

Despite having not been to our centre for several years, Clare still had vivid memories of her time in Talkabout and how some of the classrooms used to look like.

Throughout her time volunteering, Clare enjoyed being a librarian assistant for Julie and education assistant in one of our Chatterbox classes.

Chatterbox teacher, Jenny Giddy, remembered Clare as a familiar face around the centre years ago and said it was an absolute joy seeing her return to help younger students with their speech and language journeys.

“Clare is fantastic with the children,” said Jenny.

“She was great with the children and helped us a lot today.”
