Speech Pathology Week

Celebrating our wonderful team of speech pathologists under the theme Good Communication, Better Communities.

Speech Pathology Week aims to promote speech pathology as a profession and the work done by speech pathologists with the 1.2 million Australians who have a communication disability.  Communication is a basic human right and Speech Pathology Week seeks to make Australians aware of this.

In 2022, Speech Pathology Week was from 21-27 August. The theme was: Good Communication, Better Communities.

For this year’s Speech Pathology Week, our speech pathologists focused on our workplace community and spreading the word about how to improve communication. This included sharing some yummy treats and information packs about speech pathology around our centre across the week!

Our speech pathologists also attended various team meetings to spread the word about how important it is to use the best communication we can, not just with Telethon Speech & Hearing families and clients, but also with colleagues in the workplace. They focused on being clearer, more precise speakers and ensuring that our communication partners were also feeling heard and listened to.

Even though Speech Pathology Week is over, our teams continue to strive to raising awareness around communication disability.  Recognising communication disability helps support equality. Good communication means better communities.

Thank you to Speech Pathology Australia WA for the resources and funding to help make this year’s Speech Pathology Week one of the most memorable ones yet!

Happy Speech Pathology Week!
